Basin Inscribed with the Name of Ahmad ibn al-Jundi (?)

End of 13th century - beginning of 14th century

This water basin bears a long inscription that wishes blessings on Sultan al-Malik al-Nasir (r. 1294-1340). Inlaid with gold and silver, the calligraphic decoration includes four medallions adorned with inscribed rosettes and lotus flowers inspired by the arts of Asia.
