Bowl with confronted horsemen
ca. 1170-1220 CE
Two horsemen face one another on either side of a cypress tree, surrounded by birds. The composition in shimmering colours unfolds symmetrically around the tree, which grows out of a pond, a symbol of eternity and rebirth since Antiquity.
