Mona Hatoum was born into a Palestinian family in Beirut, Lebanon. As an artist, she incorporates her life experiences into different art forms such as installations and sculptures.

This artwork came about incidentally as a result of her stay in Beirut by her ailing mother in 1997.

Hatoum collected bent pieces of discarded wire to create unusual, abstract shapes that resemble an alphabet poetically expressing undefined emotions.

Think about it!

Do you remember a time when you were unable to express how you felt with words?

Think of those emotions. What shapes would you link to them?

Get inspired by the artwork, and try to create a movement with your body based on the emotions you felt.
