Toast rack

1878

Christopher Dresser

After a period of militant Japonism, Christopher Dresser reserved his most radical inventions for metal, the emblematic material of Victorian Britain, which enabled him to adapt an abstract and unprecedentedly austere aesthetic to industrial production. This toast-rack is among the finest examples.
