Today, the museum is recognised throughout the art world as a top international destination, with a growing world-class collection of art that dates from ancient to contemporary, and with highly praised exhibitions and programming. Its masterpiece building by Jean Nouvel, with stunning views of the Arabian Sea, has already become an architectural landmark; its monumental dome creates a magical “rain of light” effect and a unique social space that brings people together. During its first two years after opening, more than two million people visited Louvre Abu Dhabi, from across the region and around the world.
