Vase with Fish Decoration
1890-1900
William De Morgan (drawer)
Joe Juster (painter)
Japonism flourished in some of its most extreme forms on the north side of the Channel. The fiery red and lustrous Vase with Fish by William De Morgan (1839–1917) imports into ceramics the textile effects of the embroidered Japanese kimonos that flooded Europe at the time.
