Learn from masters of calligraphy and abstraction
2-day calligraphy and abstraction masterclass
This masterclass is an introduction to the world of calligraphy and the influences it had on the art of abstraction. It is a great opportunity to get a better understanding of our current Abstraction and Calligraphy exhibition.
Over two Saturdays, you will study calligraphic artworks, finding out the stories behind them and the masterful skill and techniques needed to create them. Then, you will try creating some calligraphy of your own, using traditional tools and methods and later experiment with abstracting calligraphic motifs. This will put your understanding of the subject into practice, for a greater appreciation of this intricate art form.
Your masterclass calligrapher will be Mohammed Mandi – internationally renowned expert and lead calligrapher & artist at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation’s Bait Al Khatt Centre. Alongside him is Juma Alhaj, an Emirati artist in residence at the Cultural Foundation, whose core focus is in abstraction.
If you want to learn more from master practitioners, this is the masterclass for you. Places are limited to nine seats for this masterclass. Follow our social media accounts to know when bookings open.
