Dr. Sarah Rogers
Sarah Rogers is Visiting Assistant Professor in the History of Art and Architecture Department at Middlebury College and a founding member and president-elect of AMCA: The Association for Modern and Contemporary Art of the Arab World, Iran, and Turkey. Previously, she served as the Curator of Community History for the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, MI and as Director of Research at Darat al-Funun in Amman, Jordan. She is co-editor of Arab Art Histories: The Khalid Shoman Collection (2014) and Modern Art in the Arab World: Primary Documents (2018) and author of Modern Art in Beirut: Drawing Alliances (2021). Most recently, she co-curated The Light of the Levant: Early Photography and the Late Ottoman Empire (fall 2023, Middlebury College Museum of Art) and Here Now: Contemporary Art and Migration at the Burlington City Arts gallery (spring 2024). Rogers earned her Ph.D. from the History, Theory, and Criticism section of the Department of Architecture at MIT in 2008.
