Blade in the Shape of a Laurel Leaf
ca. 22000 BCE-18000 BCE
As from the Palaeolithic era, the technical prowess invested in certain tools went far beyond their simple use. This long Solutrean blade, for example, was so fine that it could not be used without breaking. It would have conferred particular status on its maker or owner. The symmetrical form may have been modelled on plants.
